HANDWRITING FOR KIDS CAMP: The Handwriting For Kids Camp utilizes the Handwriting Without Tears® curriculum developed by Jan Z. Olsen, OTR and Emily F. Knapton, OTR/L. The curriculum focuses on introducing the alphabet in a developmentally-appropriate sequence using hands-on and multi-sensory resources. Handwriting For Kids Camp is designed for pre-kindergarten through twelfth graders, who need help improving their handwriting. We will be using fine-motor activities, hand-strengthening exercises, multi-sensory tools, music, and games to develop pencil grip, body awareness, spatial skills, proper letter formation, letter size, and word spacing. These foundations are essential for children to get "ready and set" to write successfully. The camp is divided into two sessions with each session providing a complete six hour instruction course. Kidz Korner's Occupational Therapists Melissa Spitznagel and Shannon Lindsay will facilitate the camp and there will be a 4 to 1 student to teacher ratio for each session of the camp.
