Head Coach
I am entering my second year as the head football coach for the Rocky Bayou Christian School Knights; this will also be my fourth season with the team. I graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS May 2008. I played for the Choctaws under head coach Norman Joseph. While at MC I played on the defensive side of ball at the linebacker and defensive back positions. I learned many valuable lessons from Coach Joseph. One in particular was how to be a Godly coach. He used coaching and the game of football as a ministry to invest Christ into the lives of young men. My desire as a head coach is to do the same thing. Coaching is my ministry that Jesus Christ has called me to. I want to see our young men live up to the fullest potential God has created him for. Not just on the athletic field, but even more so in life. God has equipped each student-athlete for a special purpose in life. Our goal as a coaching staff is to help each young man realize what God has called him to do. But, before we are able to help any young man see the plan that God has for him, we must first ensure that a player has a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. This past season we three young men surrender their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ while at practice. Our coaching staff wants to ensure that our young men have that relationship with Christ; not just in word but in action as the book James talks about. Sports, and especially football, is such a wonderful avenue to so many teachable moments and so many analogies to our spiritual walk in this world. There are many hard times and tough times that we must overcome. Just like the apostle Paul in the New Testament. Paul was often beaten, imprisoned, left for dead, or poor. But Paul was always faithful to Jesus Christ. He understood he had a higher calling life. My desire is for our young men to see the higher calling in life.

My playing history includes playing 5 years for the University of West Alabama Tigers under 3-Time National Championship winner Head Coach Bobby Wallace and being voted Team Captain Senior Year. That Senior year I helped lead West Alabama to an 8 and 5 record and defeated Number 1 ranked and undefeated North Alabama Lions in final season game. Our Senior year we made it to NCAA Division II Playoff Finals. We finished that year with the best record ever for West Alabama affiliated with NCAA. While playing I was priviledged to be a 4-Time All-Gulf South Conference Academic Team. My Senior year I was voted best Long Snapper in Gulf South Conference.
My goal as a coach is to lead Rocky Bayou to be the best team that they can be on and off the field. Espiers one day to become a High School head football coach.
First day of practice will be Tuesday May 3. Spring game will be Thursday May 26 at Destin Middle School vs. Jay High School. Any interested participants must have an EL2 and EL3 on file. Homeschoolers need to get in contact with either our Athletic Director, Lisa Eaves, eavesl@rbcs.org or our Home school coordinator, Debbie Burns, burnsd@rbcs.org.
This year we have decided to join with nine other schools to form a small private school conference. We are still part of the FHSAA, but will not compete in a district. This gives out still new program a chance to compete for a conference championship. There are many perks to being part of this conference with players of the week, players of the month, sportsmanship awards, All-Conference Team, etc. We are very excited this move for our football program and are looking forward to a great year.
James Waldron--#18 rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. He reached and surpassed the 1,000 yard mark against Freeport High School.
